Tube Grease Liner Black
The Grease Liner: This is your favourite classic for steelhead and a “must-have” in the fly box if you are looking for a steelhead in B.C., Canada. This version of the famed Grease Liner is tied on a tube and will easily wake.
We see the Grease Liner as a Caddisfly imitation, and as such, it can be made in multiple brown, red, and greyish tones. We have chosen to carry the pattern in two popular colours. Should you have a special wish for a Grease Liner in a different colour, please contact us, and we will see what we can do to help you.
This fly and many other of our wake flies are tied on our Riffling hitch tube 3.2 millimetres – The body is made of the incomparable Simi Seal dubbing from Mr. John Rohmer in Arizona (Colour; Black & Gold)
Medium version
This is a 45-millimetre fly (from front to end of tail). The body is 27 millimetres long, equivalent to a # 4 fly. (the fly is here seen with a Partridge Patriot Barbless Stinger # 6
Photo with Hook – Hook Not Included
Most of our tube flies are displayed with a hook to give you an idea of how they will look when assembled. In the product description, we also suggest suitable hooks for each fly. However, since the choice of hook depends on river regulations, the type of fishing you’re doing, and ultimately your personal preference, we leave it up to you to choose the hooks you would like to use with your fly.
Fish your fly with the hook up-side-down
Just like some anglers will fish the hook reversed on the Quigley’s Dragon Gurgler – they would also use this technique on their Tube Steelhead Beetle – to do so in an easy and smart way, you may use a so-called egg hook or up-eye hook– as seen fitted on the fly in the image to the lift. The up-eye hook will enable you to get a different angle on the hook, and the low-memory medium soft tubing this steelhead wake Bomber is tied on is well suited to accommodate such a fly fishing method.
