Morrish Mouse on Hook – #4 Natural Grey
The Morrish Mouse, also known as the Mighty Mouse, is a famous mouse pattern designed by Ken Morrish of Fly Water Travel.
Originally developed for fishing big rainbow and leopard trout in the rivers of Western Alaska, the pattern has become a widely recognised mouse and lemming imitation. It is now used for Brown Trout in New Zealand, Rainbow Trout in Kamchatka, Bass in North America, Peacock Bass in Central America, as well as Taimen, Pike and other predatory fish.
The combination of a deer hair body and foam back gives the Morrish Mouse its characteristic high-floating profile and makes it exceptionally well suited to surface fishing.
We have long tied this pattern on our 3.2 mm hitch tube. Our tube version allows anglers to use a variety of hooks and creates a lightweight alternative to large rodent patterns tied on heavy, long-shank hooks.
Now we also offer the Morrish Mouse on Hook for anglers who prefer this classic pattern tied directly on a hook.
This version is carefully shaped with a flat underside, giving the fly a stable position on the surface while keeping the hook gap open.
A classic nylon weed guard runs from the top of the fly towards the beginning of the hook gap, helping protect the hook point when fishing close to vegetation and other surface structure.
The Morrish Mouse on Hook – #4 is the larger of our two hook-tied Morrish Mouse versions. A smaller #6 version is also available for situations where a more compact presentation is preferred.

The Morrish Mouse – now also tied on hook
The Morrish Mouse has become one of the classic patterns for fishing mice and other terrestrial prey on the surface.
We have long tied this pattern on tube, using our 3.2 mm hitch tube to create a lightweight mouse that can be fished with a variety of hooks.
The Morrish Mouse on Hook takes the same well-known pattern and presents it in a traditional hook-mounted format.
For anglers who prefer a hook-tied mouse, this version offers the familiar deer hair and foam construction, carefully shaped with a flat underside, open hook gap and nylon weed guard.
Tested as a surface pattern
We tested the Morrish Mouse tied on tube on the famous Kanetok River in 2016, where it accounted for rainbows, leopard trout, large grayling, Cohos and Arctic Char.
The pattern has since become associated with exciting surface fishing for a wide range of predatory fish.
The hook-tied version is made for anglers who want to fish this proven mouse pattern directly on a hook, while retaining the characteristic profile and floating properties of the Morrish Mouse.
Available in two hook sizes
